British teacher accidentally sends class a poem about incest

A British teacher ticked off parents when she accidentally emailed her class a doctored video reading of a children’s poem — which made the once-harmless prose about incest.

The unnamed teacher at the Ings Primary School in East Yorkshire meant to send her 5th- and 6th-grade students a video of children’s author Michael Rosen reading his poem “The Car Trip,” The Sun reported Thursday.

Instead, she sent the class a vile parody of the story called “The Horrible Car Trip,” which spliced the video to make it about incest.

“Teachers need to check what they’re sending kids and not just being lazy and posting random links that they haven’t verified,” said one angry dad who listened to the video with his daughter.

“I half-heard it the first time as I was working and she was sat next to me and was struggling to answer the questions,” he said. “So I had to listen to the poem properly and realized something was severely wrong with what she was listening to and turned the video off.”

He said the video was up for more than an hour before it was pulled.

The teacher sent the video via Google Classroom while teaching the 9 to 10-year-old students remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the outlet said.

Rosen, a popular children’s author, penned “The Car Trip” about siblings arguing in the back of the family car during a trip with their mother — but the innocent tale was turned into a sick parody on the doctored video.

Red-faced school officials were forced to issue an apology to irate parents.

“The poem was uploaded in error and we’ve apologized for this genuine mistake,” the school’s director, Kath Roe, said in a message. “We’d also like to thank the parent who got in touch with us immediately after noticing the error.”

“Changes have been made to the uploading process, and we will ensure that the content shared with our students it thoroughly checked by our teaches,” she wrote.
